Ant Control: Precision and Prevention

Ants are one of the most common pests and an unwelcomed nuisance for homeowners. Ants usually come to your home looking for shelter and food. They are drawn especially to sweet and greasy food materials. Once in your home, if they satisfy their food desires, some ant species may stay on for good. They usually nest in the ground, but create pathways through foundations, wall openings, and cracks to feed in the kitchen and food storage areas. Colonies can grow in numbers up to 500,000 and can live a fairly long lifetime.

Carpenter ant species reside both outdoors and indoors in moist, decaying or hollow wood. They cut walkways into the wood grain to allow for movement between sections of the nest. There are certain parts of a house, such as around and under windows, roof eaves, decks, and porches that are more susceptible to carpenter ant infestation because these areas are most vulnerable to moisture. Carpenter ants leave behind a sawdust-like material called frass that provides clues to their nesting location. As you can well imagine, carpenter ants can badly damage your home.
