Cockroach Control: Elimination and Exclusion

Cockroaches are one of the most unappealing of household pests and one of the hardest to eliminate. Cockroach control is essential, as cockroaches have been linked to the spread of harmful bacteria like Salmonella and other diseases. Cockroaches can survive for up to three months without food, which means extreme methods of cockroach control often must be engaged.

The cockroach prefers decaying organic matter as food, but will eat pretty much anything. Sweets or starchy items, like books or the back of wall paper, as well as fabrics, clothes and rugs are all game for the ravenous cockroach. They’re found in kitchens, pantries, closets, basements, and any other dark, moist area with easy access to food. The cockroach usually comes out at night and will scatter when a light is turned on.
